Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum has expressed the emotional difficulty the team has faced in coping with the passing of popular Kotoko fan Francis Yaw “Nana Pooley” Frimpong.
Dr. Ogum made these remarks in a post-match interview following Kotoko’s 2-0 victory over Legon Cities at the Baba Yara Stadium, marking the resumption of the Ghana Premier League.
The league had been suspended after Pooley tragically passed away from stab wounds he sustained during violent clashes at Kotoko’s match against Nsoatreman in Nsoatre.
Pooley was laid to rest on March 6.
Ahead of the match, Kotoko players honoured him with a banner as a tribute, paying their last respects.
“It has not been easy if you look at how associated we are all to Pooley,” Ogum said.
“It has not been easy trying to overcome it-his death-. Sometimes, it looks like it’s a dream but it’s a reality.
“It was very difficult to overcome if you look at the body language of the players, it wasn’t that pleasant and it was a sad body language that they exhibited throughout.”
