Asante Kotoko sign young striker Dogo Yakubu

Yakubu is viewed as a long-term attacking investment for the Porcupine Warriors

Asante Kotoko SC have announced the signing of 21-year-old striker Dogo Yakubu in the current transfer window.

The young attacker has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract after successfully passing his medical examination.

The promising forward joins the Porcupine Warriors from MID-CITY Academy, where he continued his development and gained valuable senior-level experience.

Blessed with pace, intelligent movement, and a natural eye for goal, Yakubu is viewed as a long-term attacking investment as the club continues to build for sustained success.

Yakubu becomes Kotoko’s second signing of the current transfer window, following the earlier acquisition of Prince Badu from Nations FC, as the club intensifies efforts to strengthen the squad.

The young striker is expected to provide healthy competition in attack, challenging Donzo Morfing and Kwame Opoku for places.

Kotoko have been in urgent need of a reliable finisher following the transfer of Albert Amoah, and Yakubu’s arrival is seen as a timely boost to the club’s attacking options.

Head Coach Abdul Karim Zito highlighted the club’s long-term vision, saying:
“This signing is part of our plan for the future. Dogo is young, hungry, and has the qualities we look for in a modern striker. We believe in giving young players the right platform to develop, and this is the right environment for him to grow, gain confidence, and become an important player for the club over time.”

Speaking to Asante Kotoko media, Yakubu shared his excitement with the transfer.

“I’m still young, and I believe I have a huge chance here to make a name for myself. Joining Kotoko is a big opportunity for my career, and I’m grateful for the trust the club has shown in me. I’m ready to work hard, learn every day, and take my chances when they come. I want to improve, score goals, and help the team succeed.”

Meanwhile, Kotoko will be looking for a response on the pitch after being held by Berekum Chelsea at home, a result that saw the Porcupine Warriors drop to fourth place on the Ghana Premier League table.
