Bibiani GoldStars jet off to Algeria for decisive CAF Champions League clash

GoldStars must score at least twice without conceding to force extra time

Bibiani GoldStars have departed Ghana for Algeria ahead of their CAF Champions League First Preliminary Round second-leg clash against Algerian giants JS Kabylie on Sunday.

The Ghanaian champions head into the decisive encounter at the Stade du 1er Novembre in Tizi Ouzou looking to overturn a 2-0 first-leg defeat suffered at the Accra Sports Stadium last Saturday.

The club is traveling in two batches. The technical and management team left Ghana on Thursday morning aboard Turkish Airlines, transiting in Istanbul before connecting to Algiers.

The playing body departed on Friday, joining the rest of the contingent for the must win fixture.

In all, 42 members of the team comprising players, officials, and management will be in Algeria for the clash.

Following the dismissal of head coach Frimpong Manso after last weekend’s setback, Nana Amankwah has been tasked with leading the side from the dugout as the Miners chase history in Africa’s elite competition.

GoldStars must score at least twice without conceding to force extra time, or record an even bigger win to complete a remarkable comeback and seal progression to the next round.
