Black Queens embark on Senegal training camp ahead of WAFCON

The training camp is scheduled from April 1 to April 9, 2025

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed a nine-day training camp in Senegal for the Black Queens, as they intensify preparations for the upcoming TotalEnergies Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The training camp, scheduled from April 1 to April 9, 2025, will see the team engage in high-intensity training sessions and play two international friendlies.

The first game will take place on April 5, while the second game is scheduled for April 8 against the Teranga Lioness of Senegal in Dakar.

Coach Kim Lars Björkegren will announce his squad for the training tour in the coming days.

This training camp is a crucial part of Ghana’s preparations for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, and the GFA is confident that it will provide the team with the necessary experience and exposure to compete at the highest level.

Ghana will be seeking to make a strong impression at the WAFCON, and this training camp is an important step in their preparations.

The Black Queens of Ghana have been placed in Group C of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), alongside defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania.

The tournament, set to be hosted in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2025, will mark Ghana’s eighth appearance at the continental showpiece, with the Queens eyeing their first-ever title.  

Ghana sealed its return to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a five-year absence, thanks to a hard-fought victory over Namibia’s Brave Gladiators in their final qualifier.
