Black Satellites face Zambia in pre-AFCON friendly

The Black Satellites have been drawn in Group C alongside defending champions Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic.

The Black Satellites of Ghana will play a friendly match against Zambia on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 6pm local time at the Folip Gardens Hotel football grounds in Cairo.

This match is part of the team’s preparation for the Total Energies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is set to kick off on April 27, 2025.

The friendly match against Zambia will give Coach Desmond Ofei and the Technical team the opportunity to try out strategies and tactics that they have put the team through over the final weeks of their preparation for the tournament.

Zambia’s Under-20 team, coached by the experienced Boyd Mulwanda, are also in Egypt for the AFCON and have a good pedigree at U-20 level, having qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup on previous occasions in 2007 and 2017. They have also won the U-20 African Cup of Nations in 2017.

The Black Satellites have been training in Cairo for two days, focusing on tactical training, strategies, and teamwork. The Management and Technical team expect the team to have a good game against Zambia and apply the learnings and strategies practiced during their training sessions.

The match will be a stern test for the Black Satellites, but it will also provide valuable experience and insight ahead of their tournament opener against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on May 2, 2025.
