CD Lugo forward Jerry Afriyie has expressed his excitement at the prospect of earning a call-up to the Black Stars for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The highly-rated striker received his first call-up to the senior national team ahead of the Black Stars’ final game against Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in November.
Afriyie made an impact in his cameo appearance, scoring despite the Black Stars suffering a 2-1 defeat.
The promising striker, who won gold at the All African Games, also played a pivotal role in Ghana’s qualification for the U-20 AFCON, where he was named both Player of the Tournament and Top Scorer.
Afriyie, who is on loan from his parent club Al Qadisiyah, has netted twice for CD Lugo this campaign.
Afriyie told 3Sports: “I will be very happy and glad if they called me because there is more [goals] on the way coming.”
