Life at Stamford Bridge since his arrival in 2023 has not been what fans expected of the World Cup winner, putting a lot of pressure on the midfielder.

However, the 24-year-old has put all that behind him, beginning to turn heads with remarkable performances in the 2024/25 campaign so far, attracting interest from both Atletico Madrid, and arch-rivals Real Madrid.

After the international break, news broke of Argentine teammates Julian Alvarez and Rodigo de Paul, Nahuel Molina, Angel Correa, and Giuliano Simeone trying to convince him to switch to the Spanish Capital.

Before that, the player had already turned down a move to Atletico before signing for Chelsea.

It was also reported, within the same week of Real Madrid’s long-standing interest for the Chelsea man – someone they consider as a ‘perfect replacement’ for Toni Kross, and the aging Luka Modric.

Reports are coming in from TBR Football correspondent Graeme Bailey on Sunday has indicated that interest from the two Spanish giants have resurfaced for Fernandez.

In an X(Twitter) Post, Graeme mentions that intermediaries have been involved in trying to get the deal over the line – at battle between the two Madrid giants.

Since arriving at Chelsea, Fernandez has recorded 79 appearances, scoring seven goals while making seven assists.

It remains a tough decision for Fernandez to make, but the player had earlier indicated that he was “keeping his options open”, while reports also say Chelsea are ready to keep their man.
