Dean Huijsen set to reject Chelsea & Arsenal in favour of Real Madrid move

Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen is reportedly ready to turn down interest from both Chelsea and Arsenal as he targets a move to Real Madrid this summer.

The highly-rated defender has enjoyed an impressive breakout season on the south coast, attracting attention from several of Europe’s elite clubs.

Huijsen joined Bournemouth from Juventus just a year ago in a deal worth slightly over £12million.

Despite his brief spell in the Premier League, the 20-year-old is already expected to move on, with a £50million release clause in his contract making him an attainable target for top sides.

The Spanish international, who recently earned his first senior cap for La Roja, was previously on the books of Malaga, and a return to Spain appears increasingly likely.

According to Marca, Huijsen’s father has communicated to Real Madrid that the Santiago Bernabéu is his son’s preferred destination.

Chelsea, known for targeting young talents in recent years, are believed to have already submitted an offer.

However, the report suggests Huijsen only has eyes for Los Blancos at this stage.

One appealing detail for Madrid is that the £50m release clause can reportedly be paid in three instalments, giving them financial flexibility to complete other deals this summer.

That could benefit incoming head coach Xabi Alonso, who is keen to make at least two signings before the FIFA Club World Cup begins next month.

Madrid previously attempted to sign Huijsen in 2021 but lost out to Juventus. However, they’ve maintained strong ties with his family, which may now pay off.

Dean Huijsen might not be the only high-profile addition to Real Madrid’s squad.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, who recently announced his decision to leave Liverpool, has long been linked with a move to the Spanish capital.

The English full-back is now expected to join Madrid on a free transfer after the club saw a bid for him rejected in January.
