Vinicius Jr has expressed delight in matching the legendary Ronaldo Nazario for goals scored by a Brazilian in a Real Madrid shirt, after Los Blancos’ 2-1 loss at home to Valencia on Saturday.
Vini matched Ronaldo’s 104 goals for Madrid after netting against Valencia in La Liga, and is now on course to become the Brazilian with the most goals in Real Madrid history.
The win means Madrid fall three points behind Barca who feature later on Saturday night against Real Betis and though Vinicius was glad to reach the crucial milestone, he took to Instagram to say that his team ‘needs to improve’ in the coming games.
“It is a special day for me to reach same goals as my idol Ronaldo. He showed me how to do it when I arrived at Real Madrid as a kid”, Vini said.
“However, it was surely a bad game from us. We know we have to improve but remember that at Real Madrid we never give up.”, he added.
In 307 matches, Vinicius has scored 104 goals and assisted 71 times. He will be hoping he continues his impressive run of form he’s had over the past years as Real go on to dominate in Europe.
