PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia paid a heartfelt tribute to Diego Maradona after scoring a stunning goal in his team’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in the Champions League quarter finals on Wednesday night.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the Georgian winger revealed the late Argentine icon served as inspiration for his goal, and sent loads of love to his friends and fans in Napoli.

“Diego Maradona inspired my goal? Well… I love him! He’s like God in Napoli,” Kvaratskhelia said. “I loved Diego as did all the other people from Napoli, as I spent a lot of time there and he was a legend.”

Kvaratskhelia’s finish in the 49th minute put PSG ahead 2-1 after a tight first half where Villa looked threatening.

The visitors had opened the scoring through Morgan Rogers, yet Desire Doue equalized right before the break. Kvaratskhelia proved crucial for PSG who now have one foot in the semi-final after the convincing home performance.
