Man City agree £59m deal with AC Milan for Tijjani Reijnders

The 26-year-old has agreed a five-year deal at the Etihad

Manchester City are on the verge of signing Tijjani Reijnders after agreeing a £59m deal with AC Milan for the midfielder, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 26-year-old has agreed a five-year deal at the Etihad and is expected to undergo his medical in the coming days.

Reijnders, who was named Serie A midfielder of the year, racked up 54 appearances, scored 15 goals, and provided five assists for AC Milan, who finished eighth and failed to qualify for any European competition.

He recently extended his stay at the Serie A club until June 2030, however, he is set to join Pep Guardiola’s side ahead of the upcoming Club World Cup.

Romano posted on X: “Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City, here we go! Verbal agreement in place for Dutch midfielder to join #MCFC.

“Deal almost done since yesterday as revealed and now being finalized for package worth around €70m.

“Personal terms sealed days ago and formal steps to follow.”

Man City brought in Nico Gonzalez from Porto in the winter transfer window, however, with Kevin De Bruyne leaving, the Premier League giants want to strengthen their squad.

The signing of Reijnders will help ease the burden on Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, who made his comeback from a lengthy anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury layoff for the penultimate league game against Bournemouth.

Reijnders is a dynamic No.8 who can also be deployed effectively as a defensive midfielder.

He moved to AC Milan from Eredivisie side AZ in 2023. The Dutchman played a key role for the Netherlands who reached the semi-finals of the 2024 European Championship.

Reijnders has made 22 appearances for the national team season since making his debut in 2023, scoring four goals in the process.
