His goal ended a drought that had lasted more than a year, but despite the milestone, his thoughts were elsewhere.
While discussing the moment post-match, Jack Grealish became emotional, revealing that the day marked a deeply personal anniversary.
Grealish was just four years old when his brother, Keelan, passed away in April 2000 at only nine months old due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
His tribute on the pitch was a poignant reminder of the personal battles players carry beyond football.
He said: “My little brother passed away 25 years ago today.
“This day is hard on the family. My mum and dad were here, so to score and to win was brilliant.”

Guardiola admitted he was unaware of the anniversary but praised Grealish for his compassionate nature. The 29-year-old midfielder has a sister, Holly, who lives with cerebral palsy.
“Jack is an incredible human being,” said the Man City boss. “He is incredibly generous. I didn’t know that and I can’t imagine how tough it can be with mum and dad and sister.
“It is good they remember him, this day. I am sure they remember him every single day. But it is good to score.”
