Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the MP for Asawasi Constituency and the Minister for the Interior, attended the commissioning and officially launched the pitches with a symbolic kickoff.

Also in attendance was the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Ben Abdallah Alhassan, who played a key role in the realization of the projects.
In his address, Muntaka described the facilities as a major investment in youth empowerment and community development.
The Minister for Interior stated that the Astro Turf will benefit football players and host various sports activities. Both facilities feature volleyball courts that can be adapted for basketball, transforming them into versatile sports centers for the community.

Minister Muntaka emphasized that investing in sports infrastructure is an investment in the future of young people, adding that such projects help promote discipline, unity, and positive engagement among the youth.
A major highlight of the commissioning of the Middle B Astro Turf was a friendly football match played between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The entertaining encounter ended in a dramatic penalty shootout, with the NPP emerging victorious. The friendly match symbolized political tolerance and unity, as supporters from both sides shared laughter and camaraderie despite their political differences.

Residents have welcomed the development, describing it as long overdue and a major boost to sports and social activities in the area.
Community leaders have pledged to ensure proper maintenance and responsible use of the facilities to protect the investment.
The commissioning of the two Astro Turfs marks a significant step forward in strengthening grassroots sports, promoting unity, and creating opportunities for young people in Aboabo and Abaobo Middle B.
