Nsoatreman withdraw from Ghana Premier League amid safety concerns

GFA has yet to respond to Nsoatreman’s request

Nsoatreman FC have announced their decision to withdraw from the Ghana Premier League, citing recent incidents during their matches against Asante Kotoko and Samartex.

In a press release, the club explained that the safety of their players and officials could no longer be guaranteed, forcing them to step away from the league.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has yet to respond to Nsoatreman’s request.

If approved, the league will continue with 17 teams instead of 18 for the remaining 14 matches.

This decision is likely to have significant implications for the relegation battle, with Karela United, Legon Cities, and Accra Lions currently occupying the bottom three spots.

The move follows a violent incident during Nsoatreman’s matchday 19 clash against Asante Kotoko at Nana Kronmansah Park, where Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as ‘Nana Pooley’, tragically lost his life after being fatally stabbed by unknown assailants.
