The 21-year-old central defender has been sensational for Real Madrid this season, having taken advantage of injuries to Eder Militao and David Alaba to establish himself as an important member of Carlo Ancelotti’s first-team squad.
With David Alaba and Antonio Rudiga well over their 30s, this presents a great opportunity for Madrid who sees Asencio as a player who can establish himself in the first team for many years to come, and the advantage as a young and strong candidate coming from youth team.

In the turn of events, the diminutive central defender received his first national team call-up by Spain coach Luis de la Fuente as they prepare for the Nations League quarter-final tie against the Netherlands.
It remains to be seen if Madrid will enter the market to sign another center-back in the coming years, as Asencio’s surprise insurgence has placed the top hierarchy of Madrid’s transfer bosses thinking twice.
