Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso rules out summer sale for Rodrygo

Xabi Alonso assures Rodrygo of staying at the Bernabeu beyond this summer

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso, who was officially presented to the fans at the club’s headquarters on Monday during a press conference, has ruled out any summer sale involving the Brazilian winger Rodrygo.

Rodrygo has been at the center of serious transfer rumours just at the climax of the La Liga season, as speculations spread that the forward was facing a period of uncertainty with Los Blancos.

The 24-year-old was said to have grown frustrated by his limited role at Santiago Bernabeu, along with fellow stars Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior.

The rumours fueled keen interest in the same week from Arsenal and Chelsea, who are both reportedly ready to take advantage of the opportunity of bringing Rodrygo to the Premier League.

The issue of cost involving such a transfer is what could prove to be a deterrent for both London clubs, should they decide to put in an official bid.

Reports suggested Rodrygo was ready to make a final decision on his future, but had to wait for a meeting with new manager Alonso.

With the former Bayer Leverkusen manager now at the helm of affairs, it seems as though he has now received the backing that puts away all his uncertainties in the Spanish capital.

“Rodrygo is a Real Madrid player and I will talk to everyone who is a Real Madrid player,” Alonso said. “They deserve it and we need it.

”Rodrygo is a spectacular player, we will need him.

“I’ve made an analysis of how the team has played, how the players are and I use it to help me with my own ideas,” he said. “As coaches we depend on the players and I think the players are of a high level.

“The challenge is to make a team, to get the potential out of these players and that we all go as one. If we all go as one, we will have a very powerful force.

“Football is dynamic. I want us to interpret and I want the players to be able to play where they are most comfortable, where they can show their physical, tactical and mental qualities.

“The good thing is to have good players. Then it’s my problem!”
