Real Madrid to battle Premier League giants over €35m-rated left back

Real Madrid need to ward off Liverpool and Man City to sign Bournemouth left-back

Real Madrid are set to battle two Premier League giants for €35m-rated left-back from Bournemouth in the summer.

Los Blancos are reportedly dreading to make changes to their defence following news of an unsatisfactory display by both Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia.

The 21-year-old full-back has been a sensation for the Cherries this season, registering two goals and providing six assists from 33 Premier League appearances.

However, it is worth noting that the current Liverpool director, Richard Hughes, was the one who signed the young defender at Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar back in 2023.

It is clear Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti does not have full trust in the left side of his defence, with frequent changes at that side of the team.

Despite Mendy’s constant injury worries, the Italian has even been forced to use the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba, and the experiment has not always worked.

The reigning La Liga champions will be looking to strengthen the left side of their defence in the summer, and the idea of re-signing Miguel Gutierrez from Girona by utilising the €8m buyback clause is being considered, but Kerkez is also very much a target for the Merengues.
