Thomas Partey bags brace as Ghana thrash Madagascar in 2026 World Cup qualifier

Ghana delivered a commanding performance on Monday evening, defeating Madagascar 3-0 in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, with Thomas Partey scoring a brace.
The Black Stars took the lead in the 10th minute when a well-executed free kick was lofted over the Madagascar defence, allowing Partey to rise highest and head home the opener.
Madagascar responded with intent, pressing forward in search of an equaliser.

Rayan Reveloson attempted a long-range effort in the 23rd minute, but his shot failed to trouble Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.
After the break, Ghana doubled their lead in the 53rd minute through another Thomas Partey header, once again assisted by Jordan Ayew.
The Black Stars continued their relentless attack.

Just five minutes later, Jordan Ayew mesmerised the Madagascar defence with a dazzling dribble past three players before setting up Mohammed Kudus, who smashed the ball into the net. The assist marked Ayew’s third of the night.

El Hadary Raheriniana came closest to scoring for the visitors in the 74th minute, unleashing a curling effort from outside the box that forced Asare into a fine save.
The match ended 3-0, securing a dominant win for the Black Stars.

The victory strengthened Ghana’s lead at the top of World Cup qualifying Group I to five points after six matches played so far.
