The Black Satellites defeated Inter Allies 2-0 to wrap up their preparation in Ghana
U-20 AFCON : Black Satellites to depart for Egypt today

Ghana’s Black Satellites are gearing up for the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Egypt, set to kick off on April 27.
The team, led by coach Desmond Offei, will leave Accra for Cairo later today after wrapping up their preparations with a 2-0 win over Inter Allies on Friday.

The Black Satellites have been drawn in Group C alongside defending champions Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic.
The team will need to put up a strong performance to advance to the quarterfinals, where the top two teams from each group, plus the two best third-placed teams, will qualify.
The CAF U-20 AFCON doubles as the qualifiers to the U20 World Cup, which is expected to take place in Chile in September. Ghana, the only African nation to win the U20 World Cup (in 2009), has not featured in the tournament since a Round of 16 exit in 2015.
A strong performance in the AFCON could see the Black Satellites qualify for the World Cup and bring the country back to the global stage.
The Black Satellites will fancy their chances of going deep in the tournament and potentially winning the AFCON after their heroics in the 2023 African Games, where the team annexed gold.
This achievement has undoubtedly boosted the team’s confidence and momentum, and they will look to build on this success in Egypt.

Before departing for Egypt, coach Desmond Offei will name his final squad for the tournament. The Black Satellites have been training in Accra for the past two weeks, fine-tuning their skills and strategies in preparation for the competition.
The 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations will feature 13 teams from across the continent, divided into three groups.
The tournament will run from April 27 to May 18, with the quarterfinals and semifinals set to be played in the lead-up to the final.
