Will Barcelona win the famous treble in 2024/25?

Barcelona are in a good position at the moment to win the treble for the third time in their history.

Barcelona are in a good position to win the historic treble (Champions League, La Liga, and Copa Del Rey) for the third time in their history.

As it stands, the Blaugrana sit top of La Liga with 67 points, have reached the Copa Del Rey final where they will face Real Madrid, and are in the Champions League quarter-finals.

But, as many have seen with other clubs like Liverpool, maintaining the level to win a treble is not a walk in the park. But what do our staff at Footiecenter.com think?

A Well-Oiled Machine

Thierry Nyann: With Hansi Flick now in charge, Barcelona’s treble dream is no longer just a nostalgic echo of 2015 — it’s a real, if still improbable, target. Flick has brought much-needed structure and steel to a side that had lost its identity, turning them into a well-drilled machine.

Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 12, averaging over 2.3 goals per game while conceding fewer than one.

The steady growth of Pedri and Gavi in midfield has brought back the tempo and control that defines Barca at their best, while Lamine Yamal continues to dazzle like a firework on fast-forward.

With Manchester City out of the Champions League and Real Madrid faltering against Arsenal, while Barca’s momentum builds, the treble no longer feels like wishful thinking – it feels like a challenge worth believing in.

Still, the path ahead is anything but smooth. Winning a treble is like threading a needle in a wind tunnel – precision, timing, and nerve are everything. La Liga is a race against Real Madrid, who refuse to blink.

The Copa del Rey demands mental resilience in a chaotic final stretch. And the Champions League? That’s the elite proving ground, with PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan still standing.

But Flick has done this before – he led Bayern to a treble in 2020. He knows the terrain, and if his young stars stay fit and fearless, Barcelona might just complete one of the most dramatic returns to glory modern football has seen. The odds are long – but they’re no longer impossible.

Prosper Kuzo: I think Barca have got what it takes to go and win the title in Europe, not because they play well and have a good team, but because of who steers the wheel for the Catalan Club in Hansi Flick.

Flick is the formula. Flick has been the turnaround, and their chances of winning a sixth European title heavily depend on whether Flick gets it right in their remaining matches.

Also, I believe a fit-Dani Olmo is another key to unlocking number 6 for Barca.

Kwame Bediako: The appointment of Hansi Flick as Barcelona’s head coach has brought excitement and optimism to the team, with many wondering if he can lead them to a treble this season.

Barcelona’s current form suggests they are on track to achieve this goal, sitting atop La Liga with 67 points, eight games to go, and a four-point lead over Real Madrid.

They have also secured a spot in the Copa Del Rey final and navigated their way to the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

The German tactician’s impressive track record at Bayern Munich and the German national team has raised expectations, and the question on everyone’s lips is: can Flick lead Barcelona to a treble this season?

Flick’s impact on the team has been significant, introducing a high-intensity pressing game and clever tactical substitutions that have brought a new level of sophistication to Barcelona’s play.

Key players like Raphinha, Yamal, and Lewandowski have thrived under Flick’s system, but the road to a treble is fraught with challenges, and Real Madrid are closing in on Barcelona in all three competitions.

In many ways, Barcelona’s treble dreams hinge on Flick’s ability to replicate the success of Luis Enrique’s 2015 team, which won the treble under his guidance.

While it’s unfair to put too much pressure on Flick, the German coach’s reputation and Barcelona’s ambitions demand nothing but the best.

The question is: can Flick bring it all together and make history? Only time will tell.

Abdul Osman Wadudu: Barcelona are poised to make a strong run for the treble under the guidance of Hansi Flick, whose influence has instilled a winning mentality in the team.

The German coach has brought an elite level of belief and determination to the squad, making them formidable opponents.

After a slump in form towards the end of last season, Barcelona have since surged ahead, leapfrogging Real Madrid to lead La Liga by four points and reaching the Copa del Rey final.

With a treble within their sights, the Catalans are chasing a feat they have achieved twice before in their history. The key to their success lies in maintaining the fitness of key players like Pedri, Yamal, and Raphinha.

At present, Barcelona appear unstoppable, and when they are in their element, they have a proven track record of going all out to win. With their current momentum and Flick’s expert guidance, the team is well-positioned to make a strong push for a third treble.

Ishmael Amonoo: Glimpses of Barcelona’s resurging dominance were there to see – that was two seasons ago – and if there was a brighter light expected to shine at the end of the tunnel, then, all Catalan parades should be marching towards the green grasses of former manager and club legend, Xavi Hernandez.

He set the ball rolling for what we witness today, and, are amazed by what the club is achieving on the pitch. Xavi’s introduction of “kids” into the first team was a masterstroke, however, a no-brainer.

That set the ball rolling! Barcelona were always known to be a club that placed high importance on their Team B – the La Masia.

Xavi turned these youngsters from being “cheerleaders” to very confident and fearless soldiers. This was at a time when the club’s financial walls were being pulled down with shouts of high player wages and debt, like the Israelites shouted around the Jericho wall to fall flat, even though they continue to be struck by the same financial burden today.

Today, German coach Hansi Flick is reaping the benefits of the sacrifices made by the Club. Arch-rivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are the ones at the receiving end on the pitch – the same teams they struggled to beat just a season ago – the story reads differently today. Smashing them whenever and wherever the whistle is blown, and the ball is kicked.

Flick is on the verge of leading the Blaugrana to the dreamland, manifesting into reality – a more probable sight to a treble for the season.

Bragging rights and achievement that has eluded the Spanish giants for years. An achievement that can only date back as far as Luiz Enrique and the magical Lionel Messi era, as manager and talisman, respectively.

Somewhere in The Middle

The Naysayer

Kwaku Kotsia: I think Barcelona no doubt, have the firepower to win multiple trophies. La Liga, in my opinion, is one that is certainly in their hands.

However, the Copa Del Rey might be fair game as they will be facing Real Madrid in the final, and previous matches (2011,2014) went Madrid’s way.

From history in the Champions League, every winner of a final in Munich has always been a first-time winner.

With Barcelona winning multiple UCL titles already, do not be surprised if Arsenal or PSG go on to win this season.
