Bayer Leverkusen are accelerating their search for a new head coach
Xabi Alonso prepared to accept offer from Real Madrid

Xabi Alonso is prepared to accept an offer from Real Madrid and complete his move once Carlo Ancelotti’s departure is officially finalised, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen are accelerating their search for a new head coach. The club are now holding advanced talks as they anticipate Alonso’s imminent exit.
Reports in Spain indicate that Carlo Ancelotti has decided to step down from his role as Real Madrid manager at the end of the season, with Bayer Leverkusen coach Alonso emerging as the favourite to succeed him.

Alonso, who has been linked to the Madrid job throughout the season, led Leverkusen to an impressive campaign, guiding them towards their first-ever Bundesliga title last term.
The team also secured the DFB-Pokal and reached the Europa League final, where they were narrowly defeated by Atalanta — their only loss of the season.
Alonso, a former Real Madrid player for five years, is widely regarded as a natural candidate for the position.
However, the 43-year-old has stated that he will not discuss his future until the season concludes.

“I can’t say anything, we’re in the middle of a season and all the clubs have big goals,” he told reporters when asked about reports linking him to Madrid.
“Over the years, time passes, but the affection [for Madrid] endures. That relationship is unforgettable, and it is appreciated because the bond is very strong.
“It was a very nice stage as a player, they were very intense years. It was difficult for us to get what we wanted and it was very celebrated when we achieved it.”
