Nottingham Forest are back in third place on the Premier League standings after a 1-0 win thanks to a late Callum Hudson-Odoi finish at The City Ground.
City began the game on the front foot, coming close to scoring through the likes of Phil Foden and Erling Haaland in the opening 45 minutes on the day.
However, Nottingham grew stronger into the game in the second half as the Cityzens became weary and frustrated from their lack of attacking conviction and control.
Pep Guardiola also started to make new introductions to go for the win, subbing off Nico Gonzalez for Mateo Kovacic with Foden going off as well for Kevin De Bruyne.
Some 12 minutes after, Forest broke through the City midfield on a counter attack, and Morgan Gibbs White’s perfectly laid pass was enough for Odoi to contact with and ultimately grab the win for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
The win means Nottingham are back in third place on the league log, while City drop to fourth having played a game more than Chelsea and Newcastle, who could edge the Cityzens should they win their respective game in hand.
The victory is also Forest’s first Premier League win in four games, having suffered two defeats and a draw in the period.
With 10 matches until the end of the campaign, Nottingham’s return to the UEFA Champions League grows likely by the day, as they haven’t featured in Europe’s premium club competition since 1981.
