GFA responds to Nsoatreman FC’s withdrawal from Premier League

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially received a letter from Premier League club Nsoatreman FC, announcing their decision to withdraw from the ongoing league season.

The letter, signed by the Club President and received from the club’s official email on March 14, 2025, states that the withdrawal is due to “safety concerns regarding the security and safety of our players.”

Nsoatreman FC cited recent incidents involving their matches with Asante Kotoko and FC Samartex 1996, which have led the club to conclude that they can no longer guarantee the safety of their players.

Each scheduled matchday involving Nsoatreman FC, three (3) points and three (3) goals will be awarded to the opposing club

As a result, the club’s management and board have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the league.

The GFA has had several discussions with the club on this matter but has not reached a resolution.

Consequently, the Football Association has invoked the relevant provisions in the competition regulations.

The issue has been referred to the GFA Prosecutor, and disciplinary proceedings will now be initiated in accordance with the regulations, including but not limited to Article 13(5).

Article 13(5) of the regulations stipulates that “if a club withdraws from the league after the season has started, any match that the club was scheduled to play shall be considered forfeited. As a result, three (3) points and three (3) goals will be awarded to the opposing club.”

As a result, for each of Nsoatreman FC’s remaining scheduled matchdays, three (3) points and three (3) goals will be awarded to their opponents.
