Arsenal reach agreement to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle
Arsenal’s summer rebuild has gathered pace after the Premier League champions agreed a deal in principle worth around £75 million to sign Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães, with Mikel Arteta continuing to reinforce his squad ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Newcastle rejected the Premier League champions’ initial bid of £70 million, with the Brazilian international being valued at £80 million. He would be joining a group of midfielders which includes Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
The 28-year-old has been granted permission by the Newcastle Sporting Director Ross Wilson and his team to undergo his medicals, with a replacement for the midfielder already underway.
The Gunners have already secured the services of Christos Tzolis arriving from Club Brugge for an undisclosed fee, Illan Meslier joining on a free transfer after leaving Leeds United, and Piero Hincapié completing a permanent move from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £34.5 million after the club exercised the option to buy included in his loan spell.
