Man United join Arsenal and Liverpool in race for Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo

Semenyo is currently joint-top scorer for Bournemouth in non-penalty goals

Ghana and Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo has reportedly caught the eye of Manchester United.

However, the Red Devils face competition from both Arsenal and Liverpool for the 25-year-old’s signature.

Semenyo has made his mark across all four tiers of English football, progressing from League Two to the Premier League in just four years.

After an impressive campaign last season, the Ghanaian forward has taken his game to new heights this year.

A versatile, two-footed attacker, Semenyo is currently joint-top scorer for Bournemouth in non-penalty goals and averages an impressive 3.8 shots per game – more than Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer, or Mohamed Salah.

His standout performances have piqued the interest of several Premier League clubs, with Manchester United now reportedly entering the race, joining Arsenal and Liverpool, according to The Independent.

Both of these clubs have been linked with the forward for some time.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Semenyo could be influenced by an emotional connection. The London-born player is a self-confessed Arsenal fan.

“I am an Arsenal fan,” Semenyo told The Athletic earlier this season.

“I don’t see any conflict with my job. It’s great to play against Arsenal, a team I’ve supported all my life. I want to play for top clubs, and in order to do that, I need to prove myself.”

He has certainly showcased his talent, scoring against both Manchester City and Manchester United this season.

Despite his impressive form, Semenyo is not considered a top priority for United, Arsenal, or Liverpool.

While Liverpool’s interest in attacking reinforcements has cooled for now, this could change if Mohamed Salah departs in the summer.

Both Arsenal and United are also said to be in the running for Nico Williams of Athletic Club, who boasts a more established track record at the top level and is expected to cost around £50million.

However, Williams’ wage demands – rumoured to exceed £200,000 per week – could make him a more expensive proposition.

Semenyo’s reported salary expectations are significantly lower, but Bournemouth are expected to demand a steep transfer fee for their prized asset.

Unlike Williams, the Premier League forward does not have a release clause, and the Cherries are said to be seeking at least £65million for his services.
