Carlos Baleba is set to sign for United

Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of agreeing a deal with Premier League rivals Brighton for the signing of midfield dynamo Carlos Baleba for a fee in the region of  £60 million this summer.

United have been searching for reinforcement, especially, following the summer exit of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. Meanwhile, they have placed the midfielder on their radar for quite some time now, and a deal looks all but certain to be concluded this time around.

The Red Devils have already signed two midfielders this summer. Andre Santos arrived first from Chelsea for £48 million move, while Michael Carrick’s side surprisingly completed their second midfielder move for Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for £35 million.

Both clubs are yet to reach a club-to-club agreement for the transfer of the Cameroonian midfielder, with his medical immediately being lined up by United to finalize the move.

The 22-year-old is currently recovering from an ankle ligament injury he picked up during pre-season, but it’s not expected to keep him out for an extended period.

He has remained one of United’s top targets since last autumn, and they continue to pursue him as one of their top targets this summer, and is set to become their third addition in midfield once the deal is confirmed.

Baleba joined Brighton from Lille in 2023 and has made 112 appearances for the club. He featured 35 times last season and was absent for a almost a month while representing Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations.

At 21, the physically imposing midfielder had established himself as one of the Premier League’s most coveted young players in his position, with a move to one of Europe’s elite clubs seemingly inevitable.
