GFA aims to restore Black Stars to African Football prominence

The Ghana Football Association has revealed plan to restore Black Stars to African football prominence

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is committed to restoring the Black Stars to their former glory in African football.

After a disappointing failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, the national team has begun to show signs of resurgence.

Recent dominant wins in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, including a 5-0 thrashing of Chad at home and a 3-0 victory over Madagascar away, have given the team momentum.

According to Henry Asante Twum, Spokesperson of the GFA, the association is focused on rebuilding and team development.

“We want to try as much as possible to continue our rebuilding process, to continue the effort in making the team one of the best on the continent,” Henry told the Ghana FA media.

The GFA has expressed interest in participating in the four-nation Unity Cup tournament in May, which will feature Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and Nigeria.

“Luckily, we received this proposal [Unity Cup] from Afro Sports [UK-based match agency] and then we expressed interest in it,” Henry added.

The four-time African champions are not overly concerned about results at this stage but are instead focused on their team-building agenda.

“We are not overly concerned about results. We are concerned about our team building agenda,” Henry emphasised.

The Unity Cup tournament presents an opportunity for the Black Stars to continue their rebuilding process and gain valuable experience in competitive matches.
