The 3-0 defeat to Accra Lions was their biggest defeat of the season
Ogum blames lack of focus for Kotoko’s 3-0 loss to Accra Lions

Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Ogum has attributed his team’s 3-0 loss to Accra Lions to poor focus.
The Porcupine Warriors were hoping to bounce back after two straight draws, but they were stunned by a determined Accra Lions team fighting to stay in the league.

“I don’t think so. I think we had a good warm-up. It was just lack of focus,” Ogum said when asked if he noticed any signs of trouble before the game. “As you try to attack, you try to see the spaces… look at the spaces you have left behind. But then I think we didn’t do that and that led to those two goals.”
Ogum explained that pushing more players forward left his team exposed at the back, which led to two first-half goals. “We let our back loose any time we went on an attack,” Ogum admitted after the match. “Basically, we participated in attack instead of anticipating defending.”
The Kotoko coach noted that his team was playing well before the goals came. “We were tactically compact and playing very well before the goals came,” he said. “When the goals came, it took the zeal out of the boys. I think we lost our structure a little bit.”
The Porcupine Warriors have now gone three games without a win and drop to third place with 47 points after 27 matches. Kotoko will travel to face Nations FC in their next Ghana Premier League fixture as they look to bounce back.
Kotoko will need to regroup and refocus if they want to stay in the title hunt. With Nations FC coming up, Ogum and his team will need to work on their defensive strategy to avoid another costly mistake.
