Nico Williams is reportedly eyeing a stay at his boyhood club Athletic Club should they secure a UEFA Champions League slot come end of the campaign.

Initial reports in Spain indicated that Williams would certainly be departing Bilbao this summer, with a move to England being one of his likely destinations.

Nonetheless, it appears completing the dream of playing in the Champions League at Bilbao still reverberates in the mind of the 22-year-old, who has been in thrilling form in his last five matches.

Bilbao currently sit in fourth place on the standings in La Liga and look likely to book a ticket to Europe’s top flight competition for the first time since the 2014/25 season.

Nico Williams remains one of the key transfer targets for Barcelona, who missed out on his in last summer’s transfer window.

Bilbao certainly know what they need to achieve to keep Nico within their fold, and they will aiming for not just a top-four place domestically, but also a possible Europa League title as they face Manchester United in a crucial semi final.
