Fc Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has left his thoughts on the possible return of Neymar to the Catalan club, candidly stating he has little control over what signings the club makes next summer.
Ahead of Barcelona’s crunch UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash first-leg clash against Benfica, Flick was asked in his presser about his thoughts on incorporating the Brazilian superstar into his team.
His answer? —“ That’s not my job. I am completely focused on the games.”
“Signings are the job of other positions in the club, not mine”, he added.
The German made it clear he’s fully focused on the season with Barcelona and not the heavily-circulated rumor of Neymar’s possible return.
Over the last five seasons, Neymar has hinted on a move back to Spain, and with his run of form at Santos, reports indicate that Barcelona are considering bringing him in should he score 15 goals in Brazil before the summer transfer window opens.
Spanish Outlet Diario Sport have also revealed that Neymar’s entourage are open to the possible move, as the player aims for a consistent return to top level football and a final contention for the 2026 World Cup title.
During his time at Barcelona, Neymar averaged a goal contribution ratio of 1.40 per game, scoring 105 times while assisting on 76 occasions. Reactions to rumors of his possible return on social media have been mixed amongst fans, with many insisting he’s far behind his best days.
Neymar will however be far from focused on the noise and criticism constantly surrounding his career after his return to Brazil reignited passion and a sense of belief again at his boyhood club Santos.
