Tottenham close in on appointing Thomas Frank as new head coach

Tottenham are on the verge of appointing Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their new head coach following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, according to BBC Sport.
Postecoglou was shown the exit door on Friday after leading the club to victory in the Europa League final.
Spurs beat Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United 1-0 in Bilbao, claiming a first major for 17 years.

Tottenham, meanwhile, finished 17th in the Premier League after losing 22 out of 38 matches last season.
The 59-year-old left after just two seasons in charge, having joined the club on a four-year deal from Celtic on June 6, 2023.
The report claims that “Brentford are expecting a formal approach from Tottenham in the coming days but there has been no confirmation so far of dialogue between the two clubs.”
Frank is the leading contender to replace Postecoglou.

BBC Sport adds that “Brentford would be entitled to compensation for Frank, with sources indicating it would cost Tottenham more than £10m to extract him from his contract which runs until 2027.”
Frank has been in charge of the Bees since October 2018 and led the club into the Premier League, winning the Championship play-off final at Wembley in 2021.
The 51-year-old has helped establish Brentford as a top-flight club on a small budget.
Brentford ended last season 10th in the Premier League, seven places and 18 points above Spurs.
