Bibiani Goldstars part ways with 11 players as CAF Champions League preparations begin

Gold Stars won the Ghana Premier League on the final day after defeating Accra Lions at the Duns Park

Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani GoldStars have confirmed the release of eleven first-team players as they rebuild their squad ahead of their maiden CAF Champions League campaign.

GoldStars, who clinched the domestic title for the first time in their history, are determined not only to make an appearance on the continent but also to leave a mark in Africa and defend their league crown. Remarkably, the club won the league just four years after securing promotion.

Following a comprehensive season review, the club decided to part ways with eleven players as part of efforts to restructure the squad.

Despite some of the departing players playing key roles in their title-winning campaign, management opted to release them to create space for new additions.

The players leaving the club include Eric Bosomtwi, Sadat Mohammed, Alex Aso, Godfred Kyei, Frank Amankwah, Michael Osei, Andrews Cobbina, Osei Yaw, Charles Kamara, Owusu Banahene, and defender William Dankyi.

In a statement, GoldStars expressed gratitude to the group for their contributions to last season’s historic triumph.

With continental football on the horizon, the club has moved swiftly to refresh the roster, completing several incoming deals—yet to be announced—to add depth and experience to the squad.

GoldStars are expected to travel to Accra in the coming days to begin preseason preparations for the CAF Champions League and the Super Cup.

Head coach Frimpong Manso will oversee preseason training, integrating the new signings and fine-tuning tactics ahead of the Champions League preliminary round.

The club has already signed eight new players as part of efforts to strengthen the team.

The technical staff believe the reshuffle is essential if GoldStars are to compete on multiple fronts and sustain their domestic dominance.
