Asante Kotoko announce the signing of midfielder Prince Badu

Prince Badu is the first signing of the second transfer window

Asante Kotoko has completed the signing of defensive midfielder Prince Badu in the ongoing transfer window.

The midfielder signed a three-year contract after he successfully passed his medical on Wednessay.

Badu joins the Porcupine Warriors from Nations FC, where he was a key figure for two-and-a-half seasons, making nearly 50 league appearances.

Known for his discipline, strong positional sense, and ability to shield the defence, the midfielder adds depth and balance to Kotoko’s engine room.

In the ongoing season, the midfielder featured in 13 league matches and scored one goal, underlining his importance to the Nations FC setup.

The 24-year-old is expected to replace Samuel Tenadu, whose contract was terminated by the club on Monday, as Kotoko reshapes its midfield options.

Head Coach Abdul Karim Zito highlighted the importance of the signing, stating:

ā€œIt was important for us to strengthen the defensive midfield position. Currently, we have only one natural option, and we must also manage the development of Lawson Manu, who is still young. Prince understands the league, is tactically disciplined, and will help us maintain stability and intensity in midfield now and in the coming seasons.ā€

Speaking after completing his move, Prince Badu said:

ā€œJoining Kotoko is a huge moment in my career. This is the biggest club in the country, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. The expectations are high, but that motivates me. I’m ready to work hard, learn, and give my best to help the team grow.ā€

Prince Badu will wear the number 44 jersey as he begins his journey with Asante Kotoko. He is expected to make his debut on Sunday as the Porcupine Warriors face Swedru All Blacks.
