Hohoe United part ways with head coach Bashiru Tijani

Hohoe United are expected to appoint a new head coach in the coming days

Hohoe United FC have parted ways with head coach Bashiru Tijani midway through the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The decision was taken a day after the club played out a goalless draw with regional rivals Heart of Lions in their Matchday 17 encounter at the Hohoe Stadium on Friday.

Tijani oversaw a promising start to Hohoe United’s maiden top-flight campaign, picking up eight points from their first five matches, including a credible opening-day draw against Hearts of Oak.

In an official statement issued on Saturday, the club announced that assistant coach Boniface Ayipah has been appointed as interim head coach.

ā€œThe board of Hohoe United Football Club and the club’s head coach, Bashiru Tijani, have agreed to part ways. In the interim, assistant coach Boniface Ayipah will steer the affairs of the club in an acting capacity until the appointment of a substantive coach,ā€ the statement said.

Hohoe United currently occupy 15th place on the Ghana Premier League table with 18 points, just one point above the relegation zone. They are set to host Hearts of Oak in their next league fixture.

Coach Tijani Abdul Rahim Bashiru leaves Hohoe United after overseeing 17 league matches, posting a record of four wins, six draws and seven losses, with his side scoring 13 goals and conceding 17 during his tenure.

Bashiru Tijani has previously coached Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics, Legon Cities, and Young Apostles.
