Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu is set to miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup after medical examinations confirmed a torn anterior cruciate ligament sustained in AS Monacoās clash with Olympique Lyonnais.
The AS Monaco centre-back picked up the injury at the closing stages of their league clash against Olympique Lyonnais, raising immediate concerns among both club and country officials.

Subsequent medical examinations have confirmed that Salisu suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee an injury that typically requires a lengthy recovery period.
The development comes as a huge blow to the Black Stars, who are scheduled to face Panama, England, and Croatia in what promises to be a challenging World Cup group.
Salisuās absence deprives Ghana of one of their most experienced and dependable defenders, known for his physical presence, composure, and leadership at the back.
AS Monaco released a statement confirming the extent of the injury and pledging full support to the Ghanaian international throughout his rehabilitation.
