Liam Rosenior’s contract was due to expire in 2032
Chelsea sack head coach Liam Rosenior

Chelsea have sacked head coach Liam Rosenior on Wednesday, following a series of dismal performances by the team, a day after losing 3-0 to Brighton in the Premier League.
Rosenior arrived when Chelsea parted ways with Enzo Maresca on New Year’s Day, joining from French side RC Strasbourg, a BlueCo franchise, on a long-term contract running until 2032.
The English manager was hired to turn around the fortunes of the club after Maresca failed to transition the club to the next level, following the north London club’s triumph in the Club World Cup and the Conference League.

Rosenior vigorously started his Chelsea managerial career, winning 10 games out of a possible 18 – seven wins in his first 9 games.
However, the 41-year-old manager has seen his fortunes decline since then. He disappointingly led the team to a devastating Champions League exit, after losing 8-2 on aggregate to Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-final.
Since then, it has been a downward spiral for Chelsea under Rosenior. They have failed to win or score a single goal in their last five Premier League encounters – conceding 11 goals in the process.

Chelsea have now conceded 35 goals total in all competitions since Rosenior took over in January. Tuesday night’s loss against Brighton sums up five consecutive Premier League games without a win – six in 13 as Chelsea head coach.
Chelsea, who are now languishing at 7th place with 48 points on the league table risk the chance of qualifying for Champions League football next season.
Their next game will be against a very bogey Nottingham Forest side in the Premier League on May 4. It will be exactly two months since they last scored a league goal.
The club has decided to call a time-out on Rosenior’s tenure at Stamford Bridge, cutting short his three-year stay at the club.
“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, we would like to place on record our gratitude to Liam and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.
“Liam has always conducted himself with the highest integrity and professionalism following his appointment midway through the season.
“This has not been a decision the Club has taken lightly, however recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards with still so much more to play for this season. Everyone at Chelsea FC wishes Liam every success in the future.
“Calum McFarlane will take charge of the team as Interim Head Coach until the end of the season with support from existing Club backroom staff, as we strive to achieve European qualification and progress in the FA Cup.
“As the Club works to bring stability to the Head Coach position, we will undertake a process of self-reflection to make the right long-term appointment.”
Since the Clearlake Capital–Todd Boehly (BlueCo) takeover in May 2022, Chelsea has had five managers/head coaches (permanent and interim): Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Bruno Saltor (interim), Frank Lampard (interim), Mauricio Pochettino, Enzo Maresca, and now Liam Rosenior.
