Moises Caicedo’s contract was set to expire in 2031
Chelsea confirm Moises Caicedo contract extension

Premier League giants Chelsea have confirmed a contract extension for their Ecuadorian midfielder, Moises Caicedo, for a further two years, after both parties reached an agreement on April 16.
Chelsea have agreed an improved two-year deal for the defensive midfielder, cementing their trust in the player and securing his long-term future at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2033.
Chelsea signed Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion on August 14, 2023. The midfielder signed an eight-year contract with a club option for an additional year, for a British-record fee of £115 million, which included an initial £100 million plus £15 million in add-ons.

He was secured as a key defensive midfielder to strengthen the squad under Mauricio Pochettino, after turning down a move to Liverpool to join Chelsea instead in West London.
According to journalist Florian Plattenberg on Thursday, the Blues were locked in advanced negotiations with the 24-year-old, with final details still to be clarified on his improved contract.

Plattenberg further adds that the Ecuadorian international had several top-level options to choose from; he decided to commit his long-term future to the World Club champions.
Today, Chelsea has officially announced his new deal, which comes with a salary increase. The midfielder expressed his excitement after the official announcement.
Caicedo told the Chelsea website: “I am so happy to have extended my contract at Chelsea. I believe in this team, this club, and I know we’re going in the right direction. We’ve only just begun together.
“There is still a lot more to achieve, and I’m very hungry to keep improving every day. I want to win more trophies with Chelsea and give everything for this club and for the fans.
“We have enjoyed some great times together already and my dream is to become a Chelsea legend, and I will work as hard as possible to make that happen.”
The midfield dynamo has followed in Reece James’ footsteps, who also signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge earlier this year.
The new deal comes as a major boost for the Club owners, who have lost the support of the Chelsea fanbase after one win in the club’s last seven Premier League matches.
Chelsea risk the danger of missing out on European football entirely next season, and their transfer strategy has been widely criticised by fans, pundits and now players.
Marc Cucurella has hit out at the club’s refusal to sign experienced stars, while Enzo Fernandez has also hinted at a potential exit, having been linked with a summer move to Real Madrid in the summer.
Caicedo’s decision to stay at Stamford Bridge will therefore provide some much-needed relief for the Chelsea hierarchy, and they will hope that other senior ranks in the team follow suit.
