Casemiro signs off from Man United with victory

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is set to officially bring his time at Old Trafford to an end, departing with a smile after helping the club secure a much-needed 3-2 home victory over a struggling Nottingham Forest side.
The Brazilian international, who officially announced his departure from Old Trafford at the end of the season, was signed from Real Madrid on an initial four-year contract with an option for a further year.
During this tenure, as a Red Devil, the Brazilian midfielder made over 140 appearances and helped the club secure the 2023 Carabao Cup and the 2024 FA Cup in the process.

Casemiro’s emotional farewell could have been more dramatic with a goal; however, the 34-year-old will still bow out receiving a standing ovation from supporters following the club’s final home fixture of the season.
The Brazilian international was touched by the elated Old Trafford fans, with applause from both home and away fans when he was substituted in the 80th minute.
He was visibly moved as fans paid tribute to his contribution during his spell in Manchester. Teammates and coaching staff also joined in applauding the former Real Madrid star at full-time.

Speaking after the match, Casemiro thanked the supporters for their backing throughout his time at the club and admitted representing United had been one of the proudest chapters of his career.
“It’s difficult to put this moment into words,” the Brazilian midfielder told fans on the pitch.
“From my first day at this club, you made me feel at home. I gave everything for this badge and for these supporters.
“The love you have shown me and my family will stay with us forever. I will always carry Manchester United FC in my heart, and I will always support this club wherever I go.”
Casemiro’s time in the Premier League was far from rosy, although it still contained several strong moments. His first season at United was widely viewed as a success.
He quickly became one of the team’s most influential players under Erik ten Hag, helping United win the Carabao Cup and secure Champions League qualification.
During the last days with United, fans frequently shouted his name in appreciation with every tackle, pass, header from a corner, asking for one last dance until next summer.
An appreciation request that many think could help with the development of young Kobbie Mainoo, who recently signed a contract extension with his boyhood club.
But it wasn’t all bloom and gloom for Casemiro when he first arrived. Heinjury crisis during parts endured a turbulent injury crisis during parts of his time in England.
He received multiple suspensions, including costly red cards. United struggled collectively during later seasons, which affected his performances, with critics questioning whether age and the intensity of the Premier League were beginning to catch up with him.
Some supporters felt his form declined sharply after his impressive debut campaign. Despite that, Casemiro still leaves Old Trafford as a respected figure because of his professionalism, leadership and contribution during a turbulent era for the club.
His farewell reception from the United supporters reflected that appreciation.
