Black Queen head coach Kim Laars Bjorkegren has announced a 23-player squad for their upcoming training tour in Senegal.

The tour is scheduled to take place from April 1-9, 2025, in Dakar ahead of the Women’s African Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The squad has been bolstered by the return of midfielders Ernestina Abambilla and Patience Peterson-Kundok, defender Phillicity Asuako, and attacker Princess Owusu, who rejoin the team after a brief absence.

Hasaacas Ladies goalkeeper Grace Buoduwa Banwaa has earned her maiden call-up to the Black Queens, thanks to her impressive performances in the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.

Banwaa has kept 12 clean sheets and conceded just one goal in 15 rounds of matches.

This training tour is a crucial part of Ghana’s preparations for the upcoming WAFCON tournament, where the team aims to make a strong impression.

Ghana have been placed in Group C of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, alongside defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania.

The tournament, set to be hosted in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2025, will mark Ghana’s eighth appearance at the continental showpiece.

Black Queens are eyeing their first-ever title, and this training tour will play a significant role in their preparations.

Ghana’s Black Queens coach, Kim Lars Björkegren, is set to utilize the forthcoming friendlies against Senegal to assess his squad’s readiness and identify areas for improvement.

The matches will serve as a crucial benchmark for Björkegren, allowing him to evaluate his team’s progress since their previous outings against Morocco last month.
