Jonathan Tah has revealed he will not be renewing his contract with Bayer Leverkusen and will be leaving the club this summer as a free agent.

Tah, who joined Leverkusen back in 2015 has spent 10 years at the club and is reportedly aiming for a move away from Germany with Barcelona looking like the favorites to land him.

The 29-year-old has remained crucial for the German side over the last decade, but was particularly vital in last season’s Bundesliga title run that came with loads of drama and an unbeaten streak.

Now, his contract expires on June 30, and a move to Spain or England remain on the cards for Tah, who aims for a big transfer this summer.

The German defender told media outlet Kicker that he will be departing Leverkusen this summer, and nothing can make him reverse his decision at this point of the campaign.

“Everything was said from the start. There was a point in time when I made the decision not to extend my contract and not to stay here”, he said.

Like Barcelona, Real Madrid look like one of the candidates to land Tah come end of the season after their lack of options in central defence in recent years. Chelsea and Arsenal are also reportedly keeping close tabs on the player, whose next years in Europe could see him show his best self.
