Rabiu Mohammed confident of Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualification despite struggles

Rabiu Mohammed, a former Black Stars midfielder, has backed Ghana to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be held in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
However, he believes the team’s recent struggles are due to a lack of self-belief.
Ghana will take on Chad and Madagascar in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. In an interview with Akoma 87.9 FM, Rabiu emphasised that the squad’s current challenges are rooted in a lack of confidence.
“This Black Stars team has lost trust in itself. They possess the talent and skills required at this level, but they lack belief. I know they are capable of performing better,” Rabiu said.
“I hope their confidence returns soon, allowing them to secure victories. When the game starts, no matter how tough it gets, they should fight, run, and pass the ball. Their confidence will grow, enabling them to give their best for Ghana.”

The Black Stars will convene in Accra on Monday, March 17 for a four-day training camp ahead of their clash against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21.
The team’s training sessions on Monday and Tuesday will be open to the public.
