De Bruyne has not been offered the chance to extend his decade-long tenure at the Etihad
‘They just took a decision’ – Departing Kevin De Bruyne blasts Man City

Kevin De Bruyne was taken aback when he was informed that his Manchester City career was coming to an end, as he feels he is still capable of performing at the highest level.
The Belgium playmaker, who will turn 34 in June, has not been offered the chance to extend his decade-long tenure at the Etihad, despite still being a crucial figure for the team.
In contrast to his peers at Liverpool, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, who continue to play key roles well into their mid-30s, De Bruyne finds himself on the outs.
The midfielder appears to believe that Manchester City may have made a misstep in letting him go.

Had the team’s season been more successful – currently, they are fighting just to secure a spot in next season’s Champions League, despite their 2-0 win at Everton – De Bruyne feels he may have been given the opportunity to continue.
“I have not had any offer the whole year, they just took a decision,” he said.
“Obviously, I was a bit surprised but I just have to accept it. Honestly I still think I can perform at this level like I’m showing but I understand clubs have to make decisions.
“Maybe if the team didn’t struggle and I came back like I did this year and bedded in like normal then maybe they take another decision.”

Kevin De Bruyne has revealed he is yet to make any decisions about his future, as his focus remains firmly on helping Manchester City secure a top-five finish and extend their Champions League run into a 15th consecutive season.
Although the Belgian midfielder has already been linked with a potential move to Major League Soccer in the United States, it seems he still intends to play at the highest level for as long as possible.

“I feel like I still have a lot to give. Obviously I know I’m not 25 any more but I still feel like I can do my job,” he added.
“I’m open for anything. I have to look at the whole picture. I’m looking at sporting, family, everything together, what makes the most sense for me and my family.
“I like to play football. I like to compete. That’s what I feel so I can’t say that I want to quit because I still feel that whenever I’m in training I want to beat the guys.
“I feel like I’m doing really well and that’s why I’ve also played a lot lately.”
