Jose Mourinho Open to Future Scottish Premiership Move Amid Fenerbahce Commitment

Jose Mourinho has refused to rule out managing in the Scottish Premiership in the future, expressing his admiration for the passion of Scottish football during a press conference ahead of Fenerbahce’s Europa League clash with Rangers.

The three-time Premier League-winning manager was asked whether he would consider taking charge of either Celtic or Rangers, to which he responded with intrigue rather than outright dismissal. While emphasizing his current commitment to Fenerbahce, Mourinho admitted that the prospect of managing in Scotland could be an option down the line.

“Why Not in the Future?”

Mourinho made it clear that he is not actively searching for a new job but left the door open for a potential move to the Scottish Premiership at some stage in his career.

“Why not in the future? People can say whatever they want, but for me, a job has to motivate me. It requires loyalty, and right now, I am happy where I am.” – Mourinho.

The former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid boss also spoke highly of Scottish football, particularly its passion and electric atmosphere—qualities he values deeply in the game.

“It’s a league of passion. For me, passion is everything,” he said. “To play in empty stadiums or in a competition where there is no fire or excitement, for me, it doesn’t make any sense.”

Past Premier League Links & Future Speculation

While Mourinho remains committed to Fenerbahce, his name has frequently surfaced in managerial rumors. Last year, he jokingly hinted at taking over a struggling Premier League side, which fueled speculation linking him with the Everton job before David Moyes’ appointment.

With both Celtic and Rangers boasting a massive fan base and historic dominance in Scottish football, Mourinho’s comments will undoubtedly spark excitement among supporters. Though no move is imminent, his admiration for the league suggests that Scotland could be a future destination for the legendary tactician.
