Carlo Ancelotti says he ‘does not decide’ his Real Madrid future amid departure rumors

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has weighed in on rumors of a possible departure from the club, insisting that his place with the Spanish giants is only dependent on president Florentino Perez’s preference.

Ancelotti rejoined Los Blancos in the summer of 2022 after his first spell at the club between 2013 and 2015, and has since led Real to two Champions league titles in three seasons.

Although the Italian is regarded as one of the world’s best managers in history, Carlo says he cannot predict his future in Spain, indicating Perez’s preference as the final say on his time at Real Madrid.

“I don’t know when. I don’t decide”, he told Poretcast.

“The only clear thing I know is that I don’t decide when to leave, the president will. It will happen sooner or later”, Ancelotti added.

Real Madrid find themselves in a decent position to fight for all remaining titles this season after losing out on the Spanish Super Cup to rivals Barcelona.

However, Los Blancos sit in third place in La Liga, only three points behind leaders Barcelona, and they will keep grinding for results though it’s a competition that has seen Ancelotti receive widespread criticism for his style of play.

On June 30 2026, Ancelotti’s contract with Real Madrid expires. The amount of success he enjoys between the period will prove to be crucial in determining his future with the record winners of the UEFA Champions League who now aim for their first treble in history.
