Eto’o initially faced a setback in his bid for the position after CAF’s Governance Committee deemed him ineligible

Cameroon FA President Samuel Eto’o has been elected to the CAF Executive Committee at the 14th Extraordinary General Assembly held on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt.

The former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker will serve on the decision-making body of African football for the next four years (2025-2029).

Eto’o initially faced a setback in his bid for the position after CAF’s Governance Committee deemed him ineligible.

However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled in favour of the 44-year-old, allowing him to participate in the election.

In other developments, Patrice Motsepe has been re-elected as CAF President and will continue to lead the continent’s football governing body until 2029.

While, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has also been successfully elected to the Executive Committee (EXCO).
