Hasaacas Ladies CEO calls on CAF to increase squad size for women’s competitions

Evelyn Nsiah Asare, the Chief Executive Officer of Hasaacas Ladies, has made a heartfelt appeal to CAF president Dr. Patrice Motsepe, urging him to raise the squad size limit for women’s clubs in the WAFU Zone B region in international competitions from 28 to 35 players.

Her appeal comes after Dr. Motsepe’s unopposed re-election at the 14th CAF Extraordinary General Assembly in Cairo.

With his renewed mandate, the CAF president has reiterated his commitment to advancing women’s football by strengthening grassroots programs and providing more competitive opportunities for female players.

Speaking to Channel One Sports, Evelyn highlighted that increasing the squad size would greatly alleviate the pressure on clubs, helping them manage player fatigue and ensure sufficient squad depth during demanding tournaments.

“If you are going to a competition and they ask you to bring only 7 technical, and that’s what they are going to sponsor and 21 players,” she said.

“I want to plead to CAF, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, I salute you again because you are doing very well, please if you can make it 35, it will help us.

“You just make it 35 for us, so that management, three or four slots and then the players and technical you increase it small up to 35, I don’t think it will take much money from CAF.”
