Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has revealed the Red Devils have set a clear directive for next season in order to return to being competitive across all departments.

United have struggled this year particularly in the Premier League, where they sit in 14th place – a position way below the high standards the historic club stands for.

However, Amorim says next season will be different, insisting the club’s management and technical bench have devised strategies to turn their fortunes around for the better.

He made these remarks while speaking to the media in a pre-match presser as United welcome Real Sociedad to Old Trafford for the second-leg of their UEFA Europa League last 16 tie.

“We have a clear plan to address next season. We have Europa League also and you can reach UCL – you never know. We have a plan. We know we’re in a difficult moment but the most important thing is having a plan and knowing which players we need to bring”

Amorim’s tenure at Old Trafford has been a worry to fans, as the Red Devils have struggled to win three games on the bounce in England’s top flight.

Nonetheless, they will still be rallying their support behind the Portuguese tactician, who has proven to be a thorn in the flesh for the supposed big six since he joined United.
