Ghana coach Otto Addo names 23-man squad for 2026 World Cup qualifiers

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has named a 23-man squad for Ghana’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
The team includes three home-based players: Benjamin Asare of Hearts of Oak, Kamaradini Mamudu of Medeama SC, and Razak Simpson of Nations FC.
Deputy captain and Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey returns to the squad after missing four Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last year.
Other notable inclusions are Kamaldeen Sulemana of Southampton and Jerry Afriyie of CD Lugo.
Sulemana, who has recovered fully from a lengthy injury layoff, is back in the squad, while Afriyie retains his spot following an impressive performance against Niger in November last year.
Belgium-based Christopher Bonsu Baah, who plays for Genk, has also been invited.
The left-footed right-winger, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, started his career with Accra Shooting Stars before moving to Norwegian side Sarpsborg 08 and then Genk in July 2023.
Black Stars to Begin Training on Monday
The Black Stars will assemble on Monday, March 17, 2025, for a four-day training camp before hosting Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, 2025.
They will then travel to Morocco to face Madagascar in another Group I match on Monday, March 24, 2025.
Ghana currently sit second in Group I with nine points from four matches, having secured three wins and one defeat, putting them level on points with Comoros.
Ghana’s qualifying campaign began with a 1-0 victory over Madagascar, followed by a loss to Comoros.
However, the Black Stars bounced back with consecutive wins over Mali and the Central African Republic in June last year, keeping their qualification hopes alive.
