Chelsea set to announce signing of Liam Delap today

Chelsea are expected to confirm the signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town on Monday, according to Sky Sports News.
Delap will undergo his medical today. The Conference League winners want to include the 22-year-old in their squad for the upcoming Club World Cup, which commences on June 15.
He would likely miss the U21 Euros, which start a week on Thursday in Slovakia, despite being named in Lee Carsley’s squad to attend a pre-tournament camp at St George’s Park.

Several clubs, including Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Everton, held talks with the striker, who has a £30million release clause following Ipswich’s relegation.
However, the Englishman chose Chelsea, who qualified for the Champions League and secured the Europa Conference League title.
Delap emerged as United’s primary striker target after the club finished the Premier League season with a disappointing tally of just 44 goals and a negative goal difference of -10.
A Manchester City academy graduate, Delap scored 12 Premier League goals for Ipswich last season, having joined the club just last year.

Delap, whose father Rory was capped 11 times by the Republic of Ireland, has represented England at the Under-21 level.
