Ghana, after a good start, took the lead through Jordan Ayew. The skipper unmarked tapped home a pass from Kudus Mohammed to continue his fine scoring run with his sixth goal of the campaign.

Otto Addo’s side looked the better team for large spells of the game and created several chances to extend their lead, but their finishing let them down.

Both Semenyo and Kudus failed to make good use of their chances.

Chad returned from recess with a different game planned sitting deep and waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Despite being outplayed for long periods, Chad remained resilient waiting for their moment.

Their persistence was rewarded in the 89th minute when Young Africans SC forward Ecua Celestin produced a moment of brilliance.

He struck from the edge of the area, his effort flying beyond Benjamin Asare to level the score, sparking wild celebrations inside the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno.

Ghana pushed hard for a winner during stoppage time, but Chad’s defence held firm. The result leaves the Black Stars on top of Group I, but with crucial fixtures ahead as the qualifiers approach their climax.

Ghana will be looking to get back on track as they face Mali on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
